Jess from Jessica G. Photography here! I've had these wood planks for a while now and I've been wanting to do this little DIY for more than a year! So, here we go!
Here's the before photos. This is natural white oak, I had a few extra pieces so I thought why not stain one side and paint the other. Then I can just flip them and change the style.
I really wanted a rustic feel for my newborn images so I got the BEHR water based Rustic Wood effects from Home Depot. Wasn't 100% sure it would work since it was water based but it worked perfectly!
I had to do a few coats, about 3 to get that darker rustic feel.
One coat in and I was in love!! I let them dry for one day before painting the other side. I wanted a crispy matte white on the other side so I chose the BEHR Marquee in Cameo White and painted with a brush to have a more grainy feel.
Here are the before and after photos. For the edits I used snowflake presets, coffeehouse presets, baby butter actions & finishing touch actions.
